Iron-On DTF Transfer Application Guide
Iron-on DTF transfers can be applied easily at home using a household iron. Following the correct temperature, pressure, and peeling method ensures a clean, durable, and long-lasting design. These instructions will guide you step-by-step for the best results on various garment types.
Place It
Lay your garment flat on a clean, heat-safe surface and smooth out any wrinkles. Proper placement helps the transfer adhere evenly.
Position the iron-on DTF transfer on the desired area, then cover it completely with parchment paper or kraft paper to protect the film and fabric during pressing.
Pressing – STEP 1
If the garment has creases, lightly iron it for 5 seconds before applying the transfer. A smooth surface ensures better adhesion.
Using your household iron, apply the correct temperature setting for your garment type. Firm pressure is extremely important—press down steadily rather than sliding the iron.
Temperature / Time Settings
- Cotton: 325°F / 20 seconds
- 50/50 Blend: 300°F / 15 seconds
- Tri-Blend: 275°F / 15 seconds
- Poly: 275°F / 10 seconds
- Hats (Poly): 250°F / 8–10 seconds
🚨 Tip: For best results, apply strong, consistent downward pressure while heating. Do not move the iron around like normal ironing.
Peel It – STEP 2
Allow the transfer to cool completely or reach a warm temperature before peeling. This helps ensure clean separation from the film.
Gently peel off the film. If any part of the design lifts or fails to adhere, reapply heat and pressure, let it cool again, and then peel once more.
2nd Press – STEP 3
Cover the transferred design with parchment paper, kraft paper, or a Teflon sheet, then press again for 15 seconds to fully cure the print.
Finish Tip:
- Teflon sheet = shiny finish
- Parchment or kraft paper = matte finish
